In the beginning…

In 1915 when New Jersey’s own Woodrow Wilson was president, when Babe Ruth hit his first Major League home run and gasoline cost around .15 cents a gallon, Charles Ober started his business in Voorhees, New Jersey. Charles supplied coal, wood, ice and cement to local residents and business owners. Just like today, there were several options for heating your home. Wood had been the most widely used source of fuel for heating until the availability of coal for home heating use became more affordable. By the mid 1890’s, fuel oil burners became the safest, most reliable and most economical source for heating your home. Charles F. Ober & Son was a leader in providing reliable delivery and service for coal, wood and oil and earned a reputation as an honest business that treated their customers like family. That standard remains the main focus of Charles F. Ober & Son. As the third generation took the reins of the business, their goal was to provide the same first rate customer service to all of their customers.
